He is the bad boy of South African art; he deconstructs his society, sometimes very cleverly, sometimes apparently unaware that intellectual constructs already exhausted abroad cannot serve in South Africa as the basis for internationalism.The work of these white BAG FACTORY artists, is sometimes too sophisticated; they fail to realise that nothing is more provincial than to deny your own provincialism.
