Jaqueline BOUVIER's mother was a noted equestrienne and when her elder daughter was barely a year old, she was lifted astride a pony. Later with her mother and father at the end of a lead line, Jackie trotted about on Rusty, a pony, or Jerry a miniature horse which belonged to an East Hampton horse stable. This picture shows her at a Long Island horse show, she was 6 years old and had already won a number of ribbons for herself. Her father did not ride, but he was a faithful and enthusiastic attendant at every horse show in which his wife or his older daughter participated. This is Jackie's favourite photograph of herself with her father Jack BOUVIER as he was known, although his full name was John Vernon BOUVIER IIIrd.
