December 5th, 1989. Michel Virlogeux, engineer and graduate of the famous Ponts et Chausees School, is seen here during a meeting of international experts. They are checking the technical difficulties that arise in the construction of a prototype bridge of this nature. He is not only responsible for the "feasability study", but he is also the designer and conceptor of the bridge. On the board he has written the results of a long series of tests which he has made in a windtunnel. This is a study concerning the combined strength of 2 windforces and their aerodynamic effect on the profile of the bridge; the constant winds plus the turbulent winds. The profile shows a section of the "metalic deck" of the bridge which has been studied as a comparison to the reversal of a plane's wing and its wind affect. The tests were made to find their resistance to a windforce which is more than 120 kmph, the profile of a plane's wing allows one to see the balance of the deck section, which must remain stretched at all times.
