In every district is an anti-tuberculosis clinic. Tuberculosis has always been bad in Vienna, with a 50% increase in cases after the war. Despite the vigorous work of the anti-tuberculosis campaign the situation is still dangerous.
Pictures show children getting ready for Kalmett vaccination (part of the BCG campaign first tried out in Lubeck). There are two steps. First a skin test, where tuberculine is rubbed in or lightly injected. If the child is immune, there is no reaction. If the child is liable to have infection, there is a reaction. The second stage is then vaccination.
