ZAIRE/CONGO. Gangala-na-Bodio. Around the commandants house are many relics of elephants found dead in the jungle. At Gangala-na-Bodio in the former Belgian Congo is the Elephant Farm and Training School (the first in Africa). It has no trouble replacing graduates in Zoos, circuses or for heavy farm work in the Congo itself. Run by Belgian Major J. Haezeart, most training is done by Zande tribesmen, the world's elephant experts. 1947.
