Marilyn Silverstone
Chandranathpur camp, 15 miles from Silchar. The first milk powder was received on the 18th July 1971, chaos as it is distributed. The camp had been opened in mid June to clear refugees from schools etc, where the first arrivals had beed lodged. So far 13.000 are in this camp mostly from Sylhet district. Central Government had budgeted 1/10 fands a day for feeding each refugee, supposed to get 400 grams of rice, 50 grams of pulses etc.
