From the towers erected on the banks of the Seine River estuary, each tower at a height of 240 meters, are a series of stay-cables that keep the traffic platforms suspended for a central span of 856 meters. There are over 2000 kilometers of cable for 50 kilometers of stays. From each tower which has a height of 24o meters, are suspended 184 stays each containing 81 cables, and between each of these stays the men must attach transverse cables to make a kind of spiderweb network.Being linked to each other the stays are stabilised by connecting cables which allow no individual movement of any single stay, anchoring everything together thus avoiding an excess of vibration throughout the network of stays and cables of the interlaced web.
