Transit camp of Qiryat-Gat. Shoemaker. The Ma'abarot were camps made of huts, tents, cloth or tine shanties which were set up in various places in the country in the days of mass immigration after the establishment of the State of Israel, as temporary accommodation for the new immigrants until they could be settled in permanent housing.
