At the Newport (Long Island) fashionable Clambake Club, Jacqueline BOUVIER shares honour with Rose GROSVENOR, a fellow debutante at a dance. The CLAMBAKE CLUB is one of the fashionable Newport cherished institutions.The rustic club building perches atop rocks which jut out into the Ocean and on summer nights it is a heavenly place. The dance honouring Jacqueline and Rose was mostly for the young and it climaxed the TENNIS WEEK events of the local social season.Earlier in the summer Jacqueline had mader her official bow to the social world at an afternoon reception given at Hammersmith Farm, the summer place of her mother and step father Hugh D Auchincloss. She shared the spotlight at the reception with her half brother James Lee Auchincloss, who was a few weeks old, and had been christened the same day.
