GERMANY. Berlin. 1999. The exhibition area on the second, upper floor. The Jewish Museum Berlin was designed by architect Daniel LIBESKIND. Officially opened in February 1999, the museum plans on presenting the history of Jewish life throughout Germany.
The Jewish Museum Berlin first opened to the public in January 1999. The new museum was designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, whose building plan received 1st prize in a competition sponsored by the State of Berlin. The museum will house an extensive collection of Jewish ceremonial objects, works by Jewish artists, and historical archives which include documents, photographs, and family memoribilia.
