The engine power of the boat is usually insufficient to progress when the ice thickness is more than 2 meters. When the boat is stuck in the Ice Floe, the crew has to cut a dotted line around it, with a motor saw so as to move on. This time it took almost 10 hours, and had to be repeated twice in three days. Since 1985, industrials have tried to create a special paint for the ship's body, which prevents it from freezing, improves it's penetration in ice, and reduces its energy consommation.
