ITALY. Rome. Palace belonging to the Order of Malta, in Via Condotti.
"The knights of Malta" is a medieval association still operating today. It is devoted to humanitarian assistance, medical and social activities. The order benefits of extaterritoriality as an exiled government, with its own constitution, passports, stamps, and public institutions. Today, among the 5000 members, about 2000 are Americans.
