The magic of voodoo is very much alive in Haiti today, five centuries after it was introduced by the slaves, and 200 years after it helped African tribes unite against the French colons in their fight for independence. This cult, dedicated to the spirits of nature as well as those of the ancestors, houses many rituals. Is it one of the causes of the misery and the backwardness of this desperate island?
